Major changes to PacificSource and Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Advantage plans are coming to Montana. Here's what you need to know and where to turn for help.
There's something incredibly frustrating about being forced to make a change you never asked for, especially when it involves something as personal and important as your healthcare.
Maybe you've spent years with the same insurance company. You've found doctors you trust, understand your benefits, and have coverage that works for you and your family. You've done everything right, and now, through no decision of your own, you're being told things are changing.
We understand how unsettling that can feel. Will you be able to keep your doctors? Will your prescriptions still be covered? Will your insurance cost more? And how do you know you're making the right decision?
Unfortunately, these are questions many Montanans are now facing as PacificSource exits Montana's health insurance market and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana discontinues its Medicare Advantage plans for 2027.
While you may not have control over these changes, you do have choices. You deserve clear answers, confidence in your decisions, and someone who can help you navigate what comes next.
What's Changing?
PacificSource Health Plans: PacificSource is withdrawing from Montana's individual health insurance market, with affected coverage ending December 31, 2026. If you're currently insured through PacificSource, you'll need to explore new coverage for 2027. Employer-sponsored plans may also be affected, with termination dates varying by contract.
Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Advantage: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana will no longer offer Medicare Advantage plans beginning January 1, 2027. If you're currently enrolled, you'll need to review your Medicare options and select the coverage that best meets your needs. This change does not affect all Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance products.
While these changes affect different groups of Montanans, they create a similar challenge: making important healthcare decisions, often with unfamiliar options and enrollment deadlines.
